Daniel Webster College Welcomes Second-largest Incoming Class in School's History

Daniel Webster College recently welcomed students and parents who will be joining the College community in the fall – the second-largest incoming group in school history.

President Skip Myers and Dean of Admissions Dan Monahan welcomed more than 200 students and family members to campus on Nashua’s first 80- degree day of 2008. After an activities fair in the Vagge Gym, students and parents – separately and together –toured campus; attended classes; visited residence halls; met faculty, staff and current students; and visited campus landmarks such as the bookstore and the Common Thread.

In his remarks to new students and families, Sam Scaman (2007), urged students to “dream big and reach for your goals,” and assured them that Daniel Webster College is a place where one will be challenged to strive for excellence, and supported and encouraged every step of the way. Scaman, of Colorado, is a recent recipient of the college’s Distinguished Service Award, and a fourth-generation pilot who will conclude his time at Daniel Webster with, in his words, “an instrument rating with a commercial certificate right around the corner.”

The incoming class comprises 260 students from 30 states and four countries. The next Accepted Student Day will be held Friday, April 25, 2008. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Vagge Gym and conclude with the Scholarship Award Presentation at 1:30 p.m. in the Collings Auditorium where this year’s recipients of the Excellence in Leadership, FIRST, Guidance Counselor, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Alumni Scholarships will be announced.
